Memo

To: Everyone


Do not offer me art. Do not offer me stories. Do not ask permission to use my characters in something for me. Do not ask for art trades.

I have put up with being disappointed by various friends and other artists for three years.

Of course, nobody complains when I draw them things. "Oh wow, thank you Ovni! I'll forget about this in an hour, but thank you! It totally goes with the other thirty something pictures you've drawn for me. I might do something for you eventually, when hell freezes over or something. 8D"

I am not going to name names. I would LOVE to right now, but there's too many guilty parties to justify doing it.

I try to uphold my end of art trades, even if it takes me a couple weeks, but I do get to it within a month or two every single time.

The other party almost never does, however, unless it's someone I don't know. Would you believe it? People I DO NOT EVEN KNOW have more integrity than the people who I usually talk to!

And the excuses, my god the excuses!

"I have a life!" or "I'm busy!" or "I'm dealing with my boyfriend/girlfriend/estranged secret part-time lover!"

If you cannot deliver, DO NOT OFFER. PERIOD. "Oh hey Ovni, I'll draw you something shortly." is a finality. The ONLY excuse for not carrying that out is UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES of a GRAVE OR UNUSUAL NATURE. You should plan that you will be busy ahead of time, you should plan that something small but tedious could come up, and make time to carry out your promises!

Forgetfulness is probably a huge part of it, but god damn did everybody get Amnesia? Within the past 2 months, I've been offered 17 different various things, from coloring some line art I did to drawing me a picture to writing a story to doing an art trade.

ONLY ONE PERSON HAS DELIVERED. ONE OUT OF SEVENTEEN IS NOT A GOOD SIGN, PEOPLE.

I would like the other sixteen to be done, but I know that's not going to happen. My optimism wore thin people.

I would rather you never offer art. Surprise me if you ever decide I'm worth the effort. Telling me ahead of time is only a guarantee to piss me off later.

If I ask for something, give me a straight up 'yes'-or-'no' answer, and then follow through. That's the only way to get things done, apparently.

The funny thing is, I doubt half the people I'm pissed at even know they're guilty.

All images I do are copyrighted to myself. No one may use them without express written permission or if they ask to. All fan-characters of mine are copyrighted to myself. Characters from games and shows are copyrighted to their respective owners (for instance, Lilo and Stitch is copyrighted to Disney). Other people's original characters are copyrighted to them and are used in the context of fanart and giftart (or requests and trades, which are express permission platforms).
